Grantee Spotlight: GrieveWell

Thanks to donors like you, the Dexter Community Fund was able to award three grants in 2018 to the Dexter Senior Center, Girls Scouts Heart of Michigan, and GrieveWell. In this newsletter, we’d like to showcase the work that GrieveWell is doing in our community.

GrieveWell is an Ann Arbor-based organization that provides support to individuals in grief, as well as to those who surround them, in order to build a community that promotes healthy grieving and healing.

We were pleased to award a grant to GrieveWell, as mental health services was identified as one of the top priority needs in our community.

The grant to GrieveWell will bring three Grief Workshops to Dexter.  This series of workshops will provide an overview of the grief process, emphasizing that everyone’s grief journey is unique. Attendees learn self-care tips and ways to help others during their grief journey. The first workshop was held on April 15th at the Dexter District Library. Future workshops will be held on October 29th, 7-8 pm at the Dexter Wellness Center, and another in November (date TBD), which will focus on grief during the holidays. All workshops are free of charge and available to anyone in the community.

GrieveWell will also have a “Pop-Up” informational booth at Dexter Daze. Look for them next to the Dexter Community Fund’s booth across from the gazebo.

For updates on the workshops, including links to register, follow DCF on Facebook. More information about GrieveWell’s programs and services can be found at www.GrieveWell.com.
